In Capoterra, no firecrackers or fireworks during the end-of-year holidays: the mayor, Beniamino Garau, has signed the ordinance that prohibits the use of pyrotechnic material in public and private places.

This year too, the municipal administration is trying to put a stop to the firecrackers that, especially at night, characterize the holiday period, but are also set off during the rest of the year. The ordinance, of course, will not be able to prevent not even a single firecracker from going off in the entire municipal territory - given that it would be impossible to extend house-to-house checks - but above all it serves to raise awareness among citizens.

The measure was adopted in particular to prevent the noise caused by fireworks from causing psychophysical discomfort in children, elderly people, and the sick. The loud noise could also cause pets and other animals to lose their bearings and get lost. Violators will face fines ranging from 50 to 500 euros.
