They would have hired hundreds of Italian and foreign workers on a fixed-term basis, paying them very low figures, exploiting them and making them work always in a situation of subjection and weakness. This was discovered by the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of Oristano working on an extensive activity aimed at curbing the phenomenon of illegal hiring. For five farms in the Oristano area, assets have been seized for over 2.4 million euros.

Four people were reported for "Illicit intermediation and exploitation of labor", a coop and a company subject to judicial control.

THE INVESTIGATIONS - According to what was ascertained in the course of the investigations, the five companies from January 2017 to October 2019 "exploited in a serious, protracted and systematic way, a significant number of fixed-term workers, paying salaries that were clearly disproportionate to the required services" , explain the yellow flames. "The investigations have revealed a stable and organized system aimed at the exploitation of employees in conditions of weakness and subjection".

Over 6 thousand checked paychecks, heard from hundreds of employees, many of whom confirmed that they had accepted to be exploited because they were in difficult economic conditions.

The situation relating to non-EU workers is more serious, for whom "the acceptance of these vexatious conditions was also determined by the need to obtain the release or renewal of the residence permit".

The investigations by the yellow flames were completed with the collaboration of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate of Oristano.

At the end of the investigations, a detailed report was presented to the Prosecutor's Office and the Oristano investigating judge ordered the seizure of the assets. But not only. Judicial control has been arranged, with a judicial administrator, of a cooperative and an agricultural company to prevent, on the one hand, the repetition of the crime and, on the other, the continuation of the activity, safeguarding employment.
