Green light for clean-up in the former military arsenal of La Maddalena .
Today, after years of bureaucratic obstacles and delays, the executive project to complete the reclamation of the body of water in front of the former arsenal has been approved .
Representatives of the Municipality of La Maddalena, the Presidency of the Region, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Province, ARPAS, the ASL, the Port Authority, the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, and the company carrying out the works participated in the conference of services, established at the headquarters of the Region today.
The amicable settlement of the legal dispute involving the Region, the Municipality and the Consortium awarded the contract was fundamental to the relaunch of the project .
The Regional Council has entrusted the General Directorate of Environmental Protection, as the contracting authority, with the task of redefining the technical and organizational activities, identifying the regional company Opere e Infrastrutture della Sardegna Srl as the structure responsible for the functions of the contracting authority for the intervention.
The project includes highly specialized environmental interventions, with particular attention to the protection of the wildlife species of the marine protected area and the Natura 2000 site. Among the main requirements: use of sand free from anthropogenic elements; sealing of the HDPE sheets to ensure total waterproofing; limitation of the acoustic impact during the works; obligation to prepare a pre-operam monitoring and testing plan, including intermediate checks and control activities during the works.
