The Tempio Penitentiary Police staff carried out a large-scale operation inside the prison with searches in all the cells . The agents, coordinated by the commander Maria Elena Mariotti , found and seized six cell phones hidden under the floor tiles.

According to ongoing investigations, the smartphones were used by three prisoners serving long prison sentences (including life) for Camorra crimes. The Tempio Prosecutor's Office is verifying the content of the conversations and chats. Apparently the phones had been under surveillance for some time . The Prosecutor's Office and the DDA of Naples could also be involved in the investigation.

The comment of the secretary of the Sinappe union, Luigi Arras: «This is yet another demonstration of the professionalism of the staff, despite the fact that the Tempio Institute is lacking in staff in the chain of command, in fact, out of 20 inspectors expected there is only one, same situation for the Superintendents. At the Regional and National levels of the penitentiary administration, the staff is asking for more attention».
