«Here we are renewing the tradition of the Calangianus-Luogosanto pilgrimage, now in its fortieth edition». The mayor of the Mariana City, Agostino Pirredda, wrote it on his social page.

The parish priest, Don Roberto Aversano, welcomed the pilgrims in the Basilica square. The procession, on foot naturally, left at half past midnight from the parish church of Calangianus (which will see another departure in September, that of the parish priest Don Umberto Deriu for La Maddalena, from where Don Andrea Domanski will arrive) to reach Luogosanto, after six hours of night walking, among landscapes made even more evocative by the darkness and the moonlight, around 7:30 in the morning. There was no shortage of moments of devotion and prayers, in particular for Peace and for the end of the wars in Ukraine and Palestine. The Mass in the basilica was celebrated by Don Aversano.

This is a pilgrimage, the 40th, of which Comunione e Liberazione has been the promoter since the beginning, which was interrupted during the years of the pandemic and last year due to bad weather. «Thanks to the entire organizational group for starting again», Mayor Pirredda wrote again, «for believing in us and for having resumed this beautiful moment of sharing between the two countries; we hope to see greater participation from the communities in the coming years as has been the case in the past."
