Large demonstration in Cala Finanza against the highly controversial Brazilian real estate project in the highly environmentally valuable area on the Loiri Porto San Paolo coast.

Hundreds have gathered: they've been arriving one by one since the early hours of the morning, and the number is expected to increase significantly . People are continuing to arrive, and there's a long walk to get to the protest site.

Several environmental and independence associations and groups have joined the effort: Liberu, Surra, Sardigna Natzione, and SOS Cala Finanza, whose petition against the project has reached 103,000 signatures . The initiative is supported by Grig, WWF, Legambiente, and Italia Nostra.

The protesters are very determined in their demands, but the sit-in is orderly and peaceful and is taking place without any public order problems .

«Everything always revolves around the same problem, on Cala Finanza as on energy speculation and military servitude: the right of Sardinians to decide on their own land», underlines Pier Franco Devias, secretary of Liberu .

"Sardinia," the independence activist continues, "can decide autonomously on urban planning matters, but with the Zes stratagem, the Italian state is trying to pass off a tourism-real estate operation that bypasses the Sardinians as economic development . We are here to defend the right to freely decide at home how our land should be used."

"The land was already defaced before the permits were granted," emphasizes Durdica Bacciu of Sos Cala Finanza , an association that has collected 103,000 signatures against the project. "They've excavated, damaged the vegetation, and cut down centuries-old junipers."

The demonstration then moved to Porto San Paolo's municipal headquarters . Hundreds of people gathered in front of the building to demand a halt to all projects by the Brazilian real estate giant that controls Tavolara Bay Srl.

In addition to environmental and independence movements such as Liberu, Surra, and Sardigna Natzione, influencers and politicians at the national and regional levels also joined the protest throughout the day. The protesters also organized a sit-in on the beach in front of the former Villa Joy, currently owned by Tavolara Bay Srl.
