Cagliari Calcio has announced that the Economic-Financial Plan (PEF) for the Updated Final Project for the new Cagliari stadium, along with the related descriptive report and supporting technical documents, has been submitted to the relevant offices . The total cost of the project will be over €200 million: approximately €184 million, plus charges. VAT must be added to this figure.

"The PEF, a key document in the authorization and concession process, certifies the project's economic sustainability and financial coverage," explains a company statement. "UniCredit's certification," adds the club, " independently certifies the coherence of the financial framework, the appropriateness of costs, and the reliability of the expected revenue streams, confirming their long-term viability. The debt structure was defined in close coordination with SFIRS – the Sardinia Region's Financial Company – whose collaboration contributed to the development of the financial instruments dedicated to the project and the overall monitoring of its economic and financial stability."

The document was prepared with the support of advisor Monitor Deloitte; legal assistance was provided by Studio Chiomenti; the design was developed by Sportium (Gruppo Progetto CMR). The new facility will be built on the former Sant'Elia site, adjacent to the current Unipol Domus. The initiative, promoted through project financing, involves private capital, bank debt, and institutional contributions: the Municipality of Cagliari for demolition and remediation activities, and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia with a balancing public contribution of €50 million.

With the submission of the Economic and Financial Planning Document, the process takes a decisive step: the next step is the City Council's declaration of public interest . Following this resolution, the City will be able to launch an international public tender for the awarding of the fifty-year concession for the construction and management of the project, thereby initiating the right to demolish the existing Sant'Elia stadium and build the new stadium. As the bidder, the newly formed company, jointly owned by Cagliari Calcio and its industrial partner, Gruppo Costim, will retain the right, provided by law, to match any competing offers within 15 days of the closing of the procedure.

"The presentation of the Economic and Financial Plan is a crucial step in the journey towards the new stadium," emphasized Cagliari Calcio President Tommaso Giulini. He added: "We are satisfied with the work accomplished together with our partners and look forward to the next steps. The shared goal with the institutions is to deliver to Cagliari and its community a modern, sustainable, and distinctive stadium, worthy of the city's and Sardinia's ambitions, capable of hosting major sporting events and acting as a driver of development for the region."
