Motorists had become accustomed to the orange barriers of the ghost construction site on Via Abruzzi, in Cagliari . But their wait was not rewarded. What was supposed to become the new eco-center of Cagliari (the third, after Sant'Elia and Via San Paolo) will no longer be built: the wait was too long, so much so that the 2.3 million euro funding was revoked.

The work was scheduled to begin on March 6, 2023. Unfortunately, the work was limited to the installation of an aluminum "cage" which, in addition to raising concerns among residents, narrowed the roadway and occupied a dozen parking spaces, right in front of the San Michele cemetery.

The construction site, which bore the white and blue sign in homage to the European Union that had provided the funding, remains unfinished. Or, to be precise, a work that was never started.
