We're sorry for our regular customers: I called them to express our sympathy. But what happened wasn't our fault: we purchased the product from our regular suppliers, as demonstrated, with documents in hand, to the NAS Carabinieri and the ASL staff. Even the inspection carried out on the premises and in the kitchen revealed no irregularities. We've been in this business for fifty years and nothing has ever happened. We will continue with our usual professionalism and integrity. And above all, we're happy that the people who ended up in the hospital are ultimately okay . Raffaele Coccodi runs the family restaurant and catering business, Le Plus Bon.

On Monday, the restaurant in Piazza de Gasperi was the subject of a food poisoning incident: eleven people felt ill after eating tuna and were taken by emergency personnel to Brotzu and Santissima Trinità with "scombroid" syndrome , due to high histamine levels, for medical checks. Two or three others went to the hospital on their own. None of the customers are seriously ill, and many have already been discharged.

Following the inspections, the NAS and ASL issued some restrictions, and today Le Plus Bon in Piazza de Gasperi will reopen . Meanwhile, the military has begun an investigation, retracing the route of the tuna purchased by the business, seizing 36 kilos of fish from a supply center in the Macchiareddu industrial area.
