405 years after its foundation, the University of Cagliari inaugurates the new academic year . Today at the Carmen Melis Theater, the ceremony celebrates over four centuries of education and looks to the new challenges of higher education.

The event opened with a speech by Rector Francesco Mola , who emphasized the university's higher education and new educational offerings, enriched by 7 new degree courses, mostly master's degrees.
"A region grows if the entire education chain grows with it, up to higher education," the rector emphasized, reiterating the goal of offering young people qualified study paths that can encourage them to choose to stay and build their future on the island.

The inaugural address was given by astrophysicist Marica Branchesi , professor at the Gran Sasso Science Institute and member of the scientific technical committee for the Italian candidacy of the Einstein Telescope.
The scholar will give a lecture entitled "Sardinia at the Center of the Exploration of the Universe: The Einstein Telescope Between Science, Territory, and New Frontiers."
