An Enel bill for around one hundred euros, made out to his wife who died over a year and a half ago.

It's the one that was delivered to a man from Cagliari, resident in Genneruxi, who told Unionesarda.it: «It seemed strange to me from the beginning because I wasn't waiting for any pending bills, I had already paid the last ones. Even more so when I saw that it was registered to my wife, who passed away some time ago." Furthermore, the lady was informed that the payment status was not regular, with a debt of over 600 euros.

At that point the man decided to go to the police to report the matter , discovering that the user was not in Sardinia but actually in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, a municipality in the province of Brescia which has nothing to do with the Cagliari area.

And so he understood that he had been the victim, or rather, almost the victim, of a scam. To be precise, his wife, whose identity was stolen to open a fake account and request money.

Luckily he realized in time that something was wrong and avoided paying : "But I want people to know, we have to be careful."

Meanwhile, the police are on the trail of those responsible for the scam.
