Padel courts instead of the kindergarten children's garden. There is already a fence around the green area outside the metropolitan city's childcare facility in via Cadello. There, among grass, seedlings and trees, even during the pandemic the little ones were able to stay together because separate routes and safety distances were guaranteed. An oasis that risks disappearing to make room for the redevelopment of the area, where four padel courts, as many tennis courts and cycle/pedestrian paths will be built serving the Monte Claro park.

«An absurd decision which affects a nursery school which is unique in Cagliari, not only for the quality of the services: it is the only one directly managed by the public and it is metropolitan, therefore also available to parents who come to Cagliari for work from 'hinterland and have a place in the city where they can leave their children." The PD city councilor, Camilla Soru, took the matter to heart. He is studying the papers because he wants to understand if there is a landscape restriction on that garden that would prevent redevelopment, to protect the trees and green space. The plan for the construction of the camps that would evict the children is from the metropolitan city: «When it was presented to us», continues the Dem representative, «we were told that the camps would be built in a degraded space. Only recently has it been understood that the area is that of the children's garden. They evict them. And it would be yet another blow to the structure."

Soru fears that the aim is to further weaken the metropolitan kindergarten «where even the youngest children are not accepted. I hope that's not the case, but the worry is that they want to close it within two years. The only childcare facility not outsourced by the administration. Which now works well."

In Monte Claro the garden is fenced and inaccessible. Even if this morning a part of the structure that prevented access was removed.
