Cagliari, the mystery of the couple who died at home in the Quartiere del Sole: the RIS seize the remains and all the food

The Carabinieri of the RIS are searching the house on via Ghibli, in the Sole district of Cagliari, where an elderly couple, husband and wife, were found dead by one of their children last Thursday afternoon. The autopsy carried out yesterday by the coroner Roberto Demontis did not completely clarify the causes of death of Luigi Gulisano, 79, and Marisa Dessì, 82.
The exclusion of violent actions or interventions by third parties has been confirmed: it will be necessary to wait for the results of the toxicological and histological tests to shed full light on the tragedy.
There are three hypotheses: one fell ill first and then the other, food poisoning or intoxication from some substance. But no lead is excluded.
From the inspection by the RIS specialists, the investigators expect some indication of the type of harmful food that the couple could have ingested - the inspection is in fact focusing on pantries and refrigerators - or on equally dangerous substances present in the house.
One of the couple's children reported that their parents had picked mushrooms the previous Sunday and may have eaten them on Wednesday evening.
The body of the two, motionless on the floor of the studio, was found by their son Claudio. He couldn't get in touch with them and went to via Ghibli, where he was born and raised with his brother Davide. He immediately called 118 but the rescuers couldn't do anything: the two elderly people had probably been dead since the morning. Then the intervention of the Carabinieri and the start of the investigation by the military of the San Bartolomeo station and the operational unit of the Company.
No signs of forced entry were found on the front door and the apartment (later seized) was in order. The coroner had immediately ruled out violent death, there were no traces of wounds on the bodies, a hypothesis confirmed by the autopsy.
