The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has halted the “Ittiri Bess” project, the 470.4 MW electrochemical storage plant planned for the Su Dragone area , in the Ittiri area.

Mase has ordered the negative conclusion of the Conference of Services, confirming the no decision decided on July 21st by the Regional Council, which considers the project incompatible with the territory and the guidelines of the regional energy planning .

Mase's refusal cites design and documentation deficiencies, the lack of approval from Terna and the Region, and the changes made to the project during the preliminary investigation phase.

The halt, emphasized Regional Councilor Francesco Spanedda , "is also the result of the work carried out by the Region alongside the Municipality of Ittiri and the local community." And this event, the regional council member further emphasizes, "demonstrates that the energy transition cannot be left to improvisation . Planning, quality design, respect for the rules, and engagement with the local communities are required. Sardinia will continue to support the development of renewable energy, but will always require that the interventions be consistent with the local area's vocation and the public interest."

The ministry's provision, concludes Spanedda, demonstrates that "the protection of the territory, the landscape, agricultural areas and cultural heritage can and must be based on rigorous and motivated administrative acts" .
