West Nile virus: Two more cases in the Oristano area

West Nile virus is spreading in the Oristano area. Local Health Authority (ASL 5) has just reported two new cases: a 50-year-old man from the Oristano hinterland and a 78-year-old man from Montiferru. The first, after treatment at San Martino Hospital, has already been discharged, while the second remains hospitalized, under constant medical monitoring. This brings the total number of cases this year to six.
The 65-year-old man from Santa Giusta, who had been hospitalized since last week, was discharged yesterday.
Therefore, in the Oristano area there is a full emergency, the ASL repeats its appeals for prevention and to follow particular precautions to avoid mosquito bites which transmit the virus.
The first death was recorded last week (a 90-year-old woman from Oristano), then other cases in a few days.
