The flames that this morning attacked several hectares of woodland and Mediterranean scrub, about a kilometer from Burcei, in the "Pinneta" area, have been extinguished. The fire broke out around ten o'clock, finding easy fuel in the Mediterranean scrub, also attacking tall trees, damaging a vineyard and approaching the small church of the Orthodox community and several farms.

The alarm was raised immediately, with three helicopters being deployed to pour a large quantity of water on the fire, while Forestry Corps and Forestas workers operated on the ground.

After a few hours, the flames were contained and extinguished. Cleanup and site safety operations then began.

"Everyone worked hard," said Mayor Marcello Malloru, "and we were able to limit the damage."

Meanwhile, forest rangers have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and any potential culprits. In total, approximately three hectares of vegetation were burned to ashes.
