A restaurant in the center of Cagliari was closed by the NAS Carabinieri after an inspection revealed serious hygiene and structural deficiencies.

The inspection, which took place on Monday evening as part of a series of checks aimed at protecting public health and food safety, involved a restaurant run by a 46-year-old woman living in the city.

According to the military's findings, the food processing plant was in widespread disrepair: dirty and greasy floors and walls, exposed electrical wiring, poorly cleaned refrigerators, and dead insects. A food storage area, also used as a staff changing room, had been set up in an anteroom, while one of the restrooms was disconnected from the sewer system.

The inspections also revealed a failure to implement the HACCP self-monitoring plan , with no records of the prevention operations required by law.

In light of the violations found, the NAS Carabinieri ordered the immediate suspension of food and beverage preparation and service, prohibiting its reopening until the required hygiene and structural conditions are restored. Administrative fines totaling €3,000 were also imposed.
