There are two signs, one at the entrance to Piazza Gramsci for those turning right from Via Sonnino and the other at the intersection of Via Iglesias and Via Oristano. Both with the words "Road closed for work". And yet, despite the notice, drivers enter anyway. The result? Multiple traffic jams and disruptions to traffic, with long lines at the traffic lights. This is what is happening in the center of Cagliari, for those who do not know about the work in progress by Abbanoa.
The construction site – for the complete redevelopment of the water network – was opened three weeks ago, with the first section of Via Einaudi (between Via Orlando and Via Alghero) completed. Since last Monday, the work has moved further forward , to Via Orlando, with the need to close the road from 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays .
Today, especially around 1 pm, several drivers (evidently unaware of the construction site) still tried to enter via Oristano, after turning onto piazza Gramsci from via Sonnino. But they found themselves faced with the closure and were forced to turn back, moreover going the wrong way . With traffic that had strong repercussions for those arriving from via Iglesias, thanks to the traffic light that lasts only a few seconds. The Abbanoa construction site will continue in Villanova until June , and then move to via Ozieri, via Macomer and via Tempio.
