Remove the barriers in Piazza Ingrao , in Cagliari. The Parks, Green and Wildlife Management Service has taken steps to dismantle the barriers protecting the ficus tree which was involved in a bad accident last year. It was May 15, 2023 when a branch of the tree broke off, falling (and destroying) the newsstand between Via Roma and Vale Regina Margherita .

The perimeter of the historic city trees had become necessary following the receipt of the results of laboratory analyzes carried out by experts from the Department of Agriculture of the University of Sassari on seven large city trees, found to be attacked by fungal infections . Immediately after the installation of the barriers in March 2024 to ensure public safety, experts from the University of Sassari went to work to treat the specimens. From the latest technical report on the state of the trees it appears that at this moment there is no risk to people or things . Hence the request to the city greenery contractor to remove the perimeter present in Piazza Ingrao.

The city trees affected by fungal infection will remain under close monitoring for the next few years and the phytoiatric treatments indicated by the Sassari experts will continue. But the barriers, if emergency signals reappear or in the event of a wind warning, will be temporarily restored.
