Cagliari takes a first step towards a more sustainable and safer model of urban mobility. At 12 noon, via Pietro Quesada became – for one day – the city's first "School Street", an initiative aimed at ensuring safe access to schools and promoting social spaces. This experiment, promoted by the Municipality as part of the European Mobility Week (16-22 September), reflects a trend already consolidated in many European cities.

The project is the result of collaboration between the municipal departments of Mobility, led by Yuri Marcialis, and Public Education, under the direction of Giulia Andreozzi. "We want to create a safe and social space in front of the schools," explains Marcialis, underlining how this intervention follows the administration's guidelines to expand pedestrian spaces and improve urban livability.

Words that are confirmed by those expressed by Councilor Andreozzi, who reiterates the importance of collaboration between departments to ensure the safety of the little ones: "Giving spaces back to children, even just during entry and exit times, means protecting them and the surrounding environment." The closure will be temporary, but it will offer families the opportunity to imagine a more child-friendly city, where school and territory dialogue in harmony, thus offering families the opportunity to experience urban spaces in a new way, promoting greater safety and a sense of community.
