A simple but essential tool to allow the disabled to get on easily by boat in Cagliari.

The lift, which will be inaugurated on Wednesday at Molo Martello in Marina Piccola and made available to all those who need it, is the latest of the results achieved by the IngegniAMOci project, promoted by the Order of Engineers of the province of Cagliari and by the association ICS together with the sponsor Valsir and the Italian Naval League - Cagliari Section.

The small crane , model Hansa C-Craine , will be inaugurated on Wednesday 15 June starting at 7 pm at the Molo Martello in Marina Piccola in Cagliari .

"This is an important moment of the project - explains OIC Vice President Denise Puddu -: in June of last year we launched the Freedom , a small sailing boat that can be used by people with disabilities or with motor difficulties and able-bodied, we have immediately started the activity and, with pride, we reached the milestone of the participation of one of our athletes in the national championship of the category which was held in Torregrande at the beginning of June 2022. Now, thanks to this lift we can give a further boost to initiative but above all we have achieved the goal of improving the accessibility of the Molo Martello for all the disabled. The next step will be to broaden the audience of partners and sponsors in order to increase the impact of IngegniAMOci on our territory and the community ".

Working on overcoming barriers at sea , on board and in port infrastructures is one of the objectives of the project launched by the Order of Engineers of Cagliari and extended to the entire Italian territory by the National Council of Engineers thanks to an agreement signed last May with the Italian Naval League. A protocol commits the LNI to make its facilities, instructors, members and professionalism of the 260 sections and delegations available, as well as information of specific interest for the formulation of joint project proposals and for the implementation of the related solidarity boating and abatement activities. of the barriers.

“In our opinion, before the norms, the push towards inclusion must naturally start from each of the colleagues, every time they sit down to design a work - explains the president of ICS Maria Sias -. We believe the IngegniAMOci project is fundamental for our category. But there is a lot of work to do to eliminate the barriers in our city, which is why we wanted to involve not only the private partners, who are doing so much for us, but also the city institutions ”. "In this phase, moreover, we want to reiterate the maximum availability to all associations who want to be part of the project and use the equipment to work together with the ultimate goal of promoting the integration of disabled and able-bodied people through sport", the conclusion.
