A fire broke out this evening in a first-floor apartment in a building on Viale Merello, Cagliari.

Two residents were rescued by firefighters, who rushed to the scene after receiving a call to the Viale Marconi operations center. One, a seventy-five-year-old man, suffered burns, but his condition is not life-threatening: he was entrusted to the care of 118 emergency responders.

Immediately after extinguishing the fire, the team began investigating the cause: an initial hypothesis suggests the flames may have been sparked by a malfunction in the home's gas system , but the exact cause remains to be determined.
