Cagliari, first taste of storm surge: Poetto beach already submerged
Most of the beach is under water, with gusts of wind expected to intensify from the eastVideo di Massimiliano Rais
Slowly and gradually, Poetto beach in Cagliari was submerged by water.
There is no interruption between the shoreline and the small dunes that have formed near the pedestrian path: the flooding, especially at the first stops, has encountered no obstacles.
The phenomenon was caused by rain, not heavy but persistent, and the force of the waves driven by the sirocco wind. The wind has not yet unleashed its full strength as expected. Gusts, shifting from the east, are expected to intensify overnight and should peak tomorrow, Tuesday, January 20th.
