Rescue operation this morning on the Sella del Diavolo, in Cagliari, where a 75-year-old Italian tourist fell while walking, fracturing her ankle.
The accident occurred around midday along the trekking path that leads from Cala Mosca to the top of the promontory. The woman, who was in the company of a group of hikers and was walking along the dirt road, slipped, suffering a trauma to her ankle that prevented her from continuing independently.
The alarm was raised via a direct call, and eight technicians from the Sardinian Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service, belonging to the Cagliari and Medio Campidano stations, promptly intervened on site. After reaching her, the rescuers stabilized the hiker and, with the help of a stretcher, transported her on a sedan chair to the road, where an ambulance from the “I Sardi Soccorso” association was waiting for her to be transferred to the hospital.
The Fire Department personnel also took part in the operations, which collaborated in the recovery. The woman's conditions are not serious.
