The A Foras association has called a pro-Palestine demonstration in Piazza Garibaldi in Cagliari. The area is surrounded by police. Here's the evening's report.

6:30 PM – Around a hundred protesters have joined A Foras's call. Participants would like to move and march in the procession, but police officials continue to deny permission.

The afternoon

The sky is low and gray, and Piazza Garibaldi in Cagliari seems silent for now. No chants, no banners: only the sound of revving engines and the blue lights cutting through the silence. The square is cordoned off in anticipation of the announced demonstration in solidarity with the Palestinian people and against the repression of their struggle, scheduled for 5:00 PM.

Three police vans are guarding the entrances: two are blocking Via Garibaldi, and one is positioned on Via Paoli. A Carabinieri vehicle, not far away, completes the deployment. A vehicle equipped with a water cannon is also deployed on Via Sonnino, a rare presence in Cagliari, appearing only during particularly sensitive events.

However, the mobilization is currently unseen. Yesterday, the police denied authorization for the demonstration , which was called to coincide with events related to Holocaust Remembrance Day, but the organizers have announced their intention to protest anyway . For now, the square remains empty, under a sky that bodes ill.
