Serious episode of violence this evening in Piazza Matteotti, Cagliari. Around 6:30 pm two men, a thirty-seven-year-old cook from Cagliari and a 40-year-old Nigerian resident in the province, had an argument on board a bus on line 9. The Sardinian, according to the reconstruction of the carabinieri, hit his opponent with a headbutt to the cheekbone, then got off.
To escape the attacker's fury , the Nigerian took refuge on board, asking the driver to close the doors.
In the meantime, the thirty-seven-year-old returned, with a knife and a stone in his hand, and from the ground he continued to rant against his opponent, also lashing out at the CTM personnel who intervened to calm him down. "I'll show you what Sardinia is," he allegedly shouted at the Nigerian, according to some witnesses.
Some of those present who witnessed the scene called the police. Some patrols and ambulances from 118 arrived on the scene immediately. But the attacker had escaped in the meantime: the cook was stopped shortly after in Viale Sant'Avendrace. He was reported for aggravated threats. His rival was taken to the emergency room.
Now the military will have to reconstruct the dynamics of the episode, also thanks to the images from the on-board cameras made available by the CTM.
