After the controversy over Marco Mengoni's concert , scheduled but not yet confirmed for New Year's Eve in Cagliari , the response arrives from the Municipality : «The Municipality of Cagliari wishes to deny and rectify the information previously disclosed regarding the cost of organizing New Year's Eve 2024. The summary figure of 1 million euros, erroneously spread in the press, refers to the general allocation of funds for all the Christmas and New Year celebrations and activities of the city of Cagliari , which in any case do not actually reach the aforementioned amount".

«The sum of 250,000 euros – we read in the press release – was agreed and entrusted to Live Nation to cover Marco Mengoni's show and includes the expenses necessary for the execution and production of this show. The remaining part is intended to cover the normal costs incurred for the safe organization of an event of this magnitude . The choice of location for the event was made in close collaboration with the competent authorities. In order to guarantee the best safety, the decision was made to move the event to an area other than the center and therefore to the Cagliari Exhibition Centre".

«The Municipality of Cagliari – it is specified – remains committed to transparency and correct information for citizens, but above all to continuing its path to make the City more attractive and lively, through the organization of events featuring the big names of the National music, with events that also generate impacts on the tourist economy, related industries and employment. We would like to point out that every expense incurred has been carefully assessed and planned with respect for public resources and with the aim of ensuring a safe and engaging New Year's Eve for all citizens."
