"Removing a Polfer patrol in the evening and at night in an area of Cagliari located in the heart of the so-called 'movida' seems not only an illogical solution, but potentially dangerous for citizens ".

The Siap police union writes it in a letter sent to the new manager of the Polfer Sardinia compartment, Francesca Monaldi and to the Cagliari commissioner, Paolo Rossi.

The union did not accept the change decided by the manager of the service hours: "We would never have expected such a drastic intervention in terms of service hours and in particular the modification of the fifth shift of the operational sector of the Cagliari railway police, 7/13-13/19 - writes the provincial secretary of Siapo, Mauro Aresu -. For those who have forgotten, these are the patrols that guarantee the security of Cagliari Station and its pertinent areas throughout the day, 24/7. The patrol carries out effective prevention work both during the station's opening hours, from approximately 4.30 to 23.45, and during the closing hours. The operation of this service extends, in case of need, to the stations of neighboring towns up to those of Carbonia, Iglesias and San Gavino».

The union explains that the evening patrol would have been canceled due to "lack of personnel" , but the manager pressed on: «We would have expected a big urgent request for personnel from you from the Department; that of Cagliari is not the Department of Rome that you direct which will certainly have continuous additions of personnel. Cagliari receives one or two people every couple of years who don't even cover retirements and to think that with just six grafts the entire operating sector would be sorted out».
