The lifeless body of a 35-year-old Algerian man was found this afternoon inside an abandoned building owned by the Region on Via Riva di Ponente. The building had previously served as a shelter for vagrants, foreigners, and the homeless.

Carabinieri from the Stampace station intervened on the scene, with the support of personnel from the Cagliari Company's Mobile Radio Unit: the officers were alerted by the thirty-five-year-old's brother, who had found him dead on a makeshift bed.

An initial inspection, carried out by medical personnel who attended for initial checks, revealed no obvious signs of violence on the body or any evidence to suggest, at this time, that other people were involved in the man's death.

At the prosecutor's office's direction, the body was taken to Brotzu Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the Carabinieri are continuing further investigations to reconstruct the context and circumstances of the death.
