Giovanni Paolo Chiama, under house arrest since last Friday on charges of neo-Nazi supremacist terrorism, has availed himself of the right to remain silent : in the preliminary hearing yesterday morning, supervised by the lawyer Diego Mastromarino, the eighteen-year-old chose the path of silence. "We need time," explains the lawyer, "to analyze the documents and carry out the necessary investigations into each individual charge." The boy thus remains under house arrest.
Chiama ended up at the center of the Digos investigation, after the episodes in which he was the protagonist as a minor in the Cagliari high school he attended: anti-Semitic and racist graffiti and threats ("I'll slit your throat") with a knife to a classmate who had made negative comments about Nazi ideology and Hitler.
The search had allowed them to discover that the boy had – according to the accusations – joined the associations The Base and AAST for the purpose of subversion and terrorism for reasons of racial hatred. He acted in the various Telegram channels under the pseudonym of “Commander Buren” and was looking for new members. He had planned a demonstration at Caritas, on the night of December 31, 2023, thwarted by the police and repeated that within the year he would be activated «to prepare the thermobaric bomb».
