Cagliari, a pipe explodes: church of Santa Chiara under water

A steel pipe from the water mains rips open in via del Cammino Nuovo, in Cagliari , and the water invades the church of Santa Chiara.

Throughout the afternoon, while Abbanoa's workers intervened to fix the pipeline, they worked for hours in the church to try to collect the water that had invaded not only the temple, but also the sacristy and endangered the altar .

The danger is that considerable damage could occur, so much so that the Superintendence has been notified and it may be necessary to disassemble the altar to secure the statue of the Madonna and other artefacts, including the wooden parts.
