Cagliari, a long time to come for the new sports hall: the market (for now) remains in the Cuore car park

Long times for the urban planning of the new building in Cagliari, the Municipality says yes to the extension of the Sunday market in the Cuore di Sant'Elia car park.
That space had been chosen on an experimental basis and was supposed to be a temporary location. Instead it has become definitive because, we read in the latest resolution of the municipal council led by Paolo Truzzu, «it has obtained satisfactory results, with tangible evidence of positive effects in relation to an originally very complex situation, both from a commercial and social point of view, thus to be led to consider it plausible to recover, in terms of regularisation, the framework which originally appeared significantly compromised". The reference is to the old space in Piazzale Trento, where illegal Sunday trading had gotten out of control.
Il palazzetto dello sport che sarà realizzato a Sant'Elia
On paper, the deadline for the experimentation in Sant'Elia should have expired on December 31st. Meanwhile «it has emerged that the “Cuore car park”, located in an area characterized by the presence of sports facilities and facilities, has been included among the sites to be allocated to an expansion of the same, a purpose for which, however, some type of interventions are necessary planning which will require a few months before the procedures for carrying out the related works can begin", we read.
And we're talking about the new six thousand seater building. For which a long time is expected. In the Municipality they believe it is necessary "to identify a new area for the Sunday market in order to avoid that an abrupt interruption of market activities could lead to a resurgence of the phenomenon of illegal commercialism". But there is no rush: now "the continuation of the Sunday market is allowed to avoid the danger of new spontaneous and non-legitimized commercial establishments and to avoid jeopardizing civil coexistence and public order".
