They failed to stop at the Carabinieri checkpoint and sped off through the city streets, sparking a chase into the night. Two young men, a 28-year-old from Cagliari and a 21-year-old from Monserrato, were arrested by officers from the Cagliari Company's Mobile Radio Unit on charges of dangerous flight from a checkpoint and resisting a public officer.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Via Sidney Sonnino, where the Carabinieri were stationed at a checkpoint. Upon seeing the patrol, the driver of a crossover, instead of stopping, suddenly accelerated, attempting to escape the officers.

A chase ensued that lasted several minutes, ending when the Carabinieri managed to block the vehicle's path and safely stop it. The 28-year-old driver was immediately apprehended, while the passenger, a 21-year-old, attempted to evade the police by reacting violently and pushing the officers. He was subdued shortly thereafter.
