Eight two-room apartments and four studio apartments in San Benedetto and Sant'Avendrace: these are the new housing units of the Municipality of Cagliari, earmarked for the project "Interventions for Social Inclusion and the Fight against Poverty and Discrimination." They are located on Via Verdi, Via Tiziano, and Via Piave, "precisely to allow for direct reintegration into city society," explains Mayor Massimo Zedda.
The spaces "are intended as temporary housing, for six to twelve months, for individuals and families experiencing severe poverty and social distress or with children with disabilities, and in part for people discharged from healthcare facilities," the mayor continued.
Guests are "further supported in a journey of accompaniment and growth towards independence by a team of professionals."
A mini-apartment, on the other hand, is intended for people in prison with less than 18 months of remaining sentences who, due to homelessness, are unable to access house arrest.
In summary, for single-parent and non-single-parent families, nine mini-apartments are available, each accommodating 24 people, including minors. For those discharged from healthcare facilities, two mini-apartments will accommodate up to six people, and for prisoners, one mini-apartment for two people is reserved.
Zedda emphasizes that the Municipality "continues to invest in social inclusion and housing policies, with a view to providing affordable housing to individuals, couples, and young people, as demonstrated by the ongoing projects on Via Donizetti."
