Since Saturday night, eighteen apartments between Via Piovella 55 and Via Parraguez 18 have been without water . Dry taps, flooded cellars, and residents forced to rely on crates and bottles for washing and cooking.

The cause of the outage is a broken pipe on Parraguez Street: "We can't take it anymore, it's an unsustainable situation," says a resident, her voice breaking.

Technicians from Abbanoa and Area (the Regional Housing Agency) have been on-site in recent days, but have failed to resolve the issue. At the heart of the matter is a shift in responsibility : Abbanoa believes the problem concerns "the system within the condominium," while Area, according to residents' testimonies, blames the network under the authority of the water utility.

«They pass the buck and we are the ones who pay the consequences», reports Giuseppe Zorcolo, resident at number 55. The emergency is aggravated by the average age of the tenants: many are elderly and forced to carry entire cases of water up to the fourth floor.

Anna Puddu, Councilor for Health and Citizen Well-being, intervened in the matter. "At the administration's request, Abbanoa has made itself available to resolve the issue reported by residents, pending a thorough review of its responsibilities," she stated. She added: "The protection of public health must take precedence over bureaucratic issues."

Meanwhile, Matteo Sestu, sole director of Area, has requested a report to thoroughly analyze the situation.
