Sweet, sunny, always smiling. Especially when he told the story of Sinis, inside that museum that had become his home. Cabras is in mourning today: it loses Carla Matta, 49 years old, a tour guide. Four days after a risky surgery needed to address her health problems, she died at the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari.

To understand exactly what happened and what the causes of death were, a check was ordered on the 49-year-old's body. Carla, who had been living in Oristano where she got married for a few years, was part of the Sinis Peninsula Cooperative which manages guided tours of the Giovanni Marongiu museum in Cabras and the archaeological site of Tharros, in the village of San Giovanni di Sinis.

The news this morning shocked the entire country and left everyone speechless.

Relatives, friends and colleagues went to Cagliari, where the mortuary was set up. The Municipality of Cabras has rallied around the family members: «The municipal administration expresses deep condolences for the premature death of Carla, employee of the Sinis Peninsula Cooperative and for years a passionate operator in the dissemination of cultural heritage - we read on the Municipality's Facebook page - The mayor and city councilors are close to the family."
