And there are three centenarians. Today, the town is celebrating the 100th birthday of Maria Pinna, a widow for years but still active in social volunteer work, a witness to a century of history. This morning, a thanksgiving Mass was celebrated in the parish, presided over by the parish priest, Father Salvatore Putzolu, who brought together her children, grandchildren, relatives, and many friends, but above all, Mayor Tore Ghisu and the city council, who, during the church ceremony (which was packed to capacity), presented the new centenarian with a commemorative plaque.
The mayor himself, also remembering the other two centenarians, Tia Bittiri Lodde and Tia Luisa Carta (both recently turned 101), said: «My most fervent best wishes for this important milestone, with the hope that the model of kind, serene and hard-working women will continue, for a long time, to be a precious heritage of knowledge and experience for all our young people».
After the mass dedicated to Tia Maria Pinna, the mayor and his council visited the homes of the other two centenarians to deliver flowers and a commemorative plaque. 2026 continues to be a year with a notable presence of centenarians throughout the Marghine area, particularly in Borore, Silanus, Macomer, and Bolotana, with a predominance of women.
