There are still few births that the year just ended brought to Sardinia, which is confirmed in 2023 - with 0.95 babies per fertile woman - as the last region in Italy. A figure that does not smile on the Island, which however can at least count on stable numbers, in line with those of 2022.

Starting from the Santissima Trinità in Cagliari , the first birth center in the region, which with 1525 newborns during 2023 broke through the 1500 mark for the third consecutive year. However, the case of Gallura and San Martino di Oristano is singular.

In both areas, in fact, the number of children as of 31 December was exactly the same as the previous year, 779 and 440 respectively. In particular, some more details come from the Olbia hospital, where seven births were recorded twins, with 33 states represented, in addition to the Italian one (headlining newborns of Romanian and Moroccan origin).

However, the figure for the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of San Francesco di Nuoro showed slight growth, where however there were no births in the very first hours of 2024. There were 843 births in 2023, seven more than in 2022.
