The community of Bonarcado is lovingly holding on to its grandmother aunt Peppina Pirisinu who turned 105 just yesterday, Saturday 21 October. An exceptional achievement for the venerable woman, originally from Ardara and resident in Macomer until a few years ago. For four years she has been looked after and cared for in the Bonarcado retirement home, and still shows a lot of vitality, even managing to eat independently.

She was celebrated by her loved ones, her daughter Rita, her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A painful life for Aunt Peppina, who soon had to roll up her sleeves to raise her family after she became a young widow, losing her husband Giuseppe Salis. Other sorrows: the death of his dear children Lussoria and Costantino, but they did not weaken his strength and courage. Until a few years ago she liked to crochet, mindful of a past as a good seamstress.

Mayor Annalisa Mele, for all the people of Bonarcade, wanted to pay homage to the grandmother, giving her the plaque for her centuries-old birthday: «it was a great emotion to be able to share these moments of joy and serenity for a truly important milestone, 105 years of life and memories."
