Even in Northern Sardinia they are trying to keep attention high regarding the spread of the Blue Language . An appeal to support farmers is launched by Coldiretti Nord Sardegna which continues to monitor the situation.

«The situation is no longer sustainable . The animals are stuck in the stables due to the stop to movements outside the island and this is leading to an unsustainable growth in management costs also due to price increases, without forgetting the increasingly greater difficulty in finding fodder and the lack of profit dictated by the stop livestock exports. If the only way to obtain the unblocking of movements is to carry out a vaccination campaign, it is necessary for the institutions to intervene by putting us in a position to operate" declares Michele Filigheddu, head of Coldiretti Nord Sardinia for the cattle sector.

«This sector is strategic for many territories of Northern Sardinia with the many companies involved in a moment of great vitality for movements and slowdowns in sales due to an increase in cases of blue tongue could lead to serious losses to earnings already proven by the increases on production costs - says the president of Coldiretti Nord Sardegna, Antonello Fois - this is why we continue to ask the institutions not to underestimate this moment and to stand alongside farmers with rapid interventions on vaccination prophylaxis and repellents"

An attention that must support the producers who «already come from a past in which they had to deal with losses both due to the previous waves of blue tongue in the past years as well as those linked to the deer disease which had added to slow down a sector in great expansion - adds Ermanno Mazzetti, director of Coldiretti Nord Sardinia - our association is always close to our farmers and we continue to be proactive and collaborative in order to maintain high monitoring of cases in Sardinia".
