Francesco Pintus, the 47-year-old soldier originally from Meana Sardo but resident in Quartu, died in the terrible accident that occurred yesterday afternoon on his new 125 near Geremeas, in the Maracalagonis area.

The injuries sustained in the crash were unfortunately fatal. Brotzu doctors did everything they could to save his life: yesterday, upon arrival at the hospital by air ambulance, he underwent two complex surgeries and was transferred to intensive care. It was decided to perform another operation tomorrow, but Pintus's condition worsened, and his heart stopped beating shortly after 6:00 PM today.

The soldier was traveling with two colleagues in one of the four vehicles —three cars and a van—destroyed in the crash, which left eight people injured. The exact circumstances are still unclear: the cause of the collision appears to have been a head-on collision between two cars, which were then hit in a chain reaction by another car and the van.

Pintus's condition immediately appeared critical, and the Areus helicopter was requested for first aid. Four people—including a child—were reported to be in red code condition across various hospitals in Cagliari. No one's life is expected to be in danger.
