Almost 30 agents of the local police of Sassari, including women and men, have joined the new blood donation appointment . Today a mobile station was set up with a blood bank in via Carlo Felice thanks to the Provincial Avis of Sassari which made the vehicle and the medical and technical staff available.

"A way - they explain from the command - to make a concrete and tangible contribution and at the same time raise awareness among the population on the serious lack of blood" .

The local Police have a direct line with the management of the Transfusion Service of the hospital-university company and have always accepted requests for support, which unfortunately are becoming more and more frequent due to the lack of donors.

Every year Sardinia imports about 35-40 percent of the units of blood needed from other areas of Italy . A high need, linked both to the high incidence of thalassemia on the island, and to the high average age of the population.

To donate, you can book by calling the Transfusion Service, on the second floor of Palazzo Rosa in via Monte Grappa 82, on 0792061461-496, from 8 to 14, on 0792061625 from 15 to 18.30; or at the Sassari municipal Avis number in via Cesare Pavese 1 079252577, from 8 to 12, or 3701434967, from 1 to 8.
