A big fire broke out on the outskirts of Cagliari, along viale Monastir. The flames driven by the strong mistral wind devoured brushwood and shrubs to arrive close to the 554, not far from the Holiday Inn.

The local police in the capital are at work trying to manage the traffic, which has suffered heavy repercussions due to a thick blanket of black smoke caused by the combustion of plastic materials and rubber abandoned in the area affected by the fire. Firefighters are facing the flames, supported by some Forestas workers.

As a precaution, some roads have been closed: viale Monastir in the direction of state road 131 for Sestu and via Ticca, in the lane that leads towards the 554.
