«Bad Sardinians»: the Milanese entrepreneur liquidates the Cagliari company, the workers discover it from the internet
The unions: «No economic reason. It would be serious if it were a retaliation, announced after sanctions suffered for alleged irregularities"Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
«I've never seen such wickedness as the one I encountered in Sardinia. I don't know, it will be for the dominations you have suffered. I have fed many, for many years, and this is the result. I'm just going away." It was November 2022 and so , with a very Milanese accent, spoke Renato Grassini, owner of the multinational Geri Hdp, who managed the debt collection company Gestione Rischi Sardegna Srl in Cagliari. He said it and he did it: seventeen employees , all Sardinians, according to the unions' accusations, they have discovered on the internet that their company is in liquidation and their job is in danger of disappearing.
«The reasons for the act which preludes the cessation of the activity», accuse the CGIL and the CISL, «would appear even more surprising if they can be traced back to the criticisms expressed by the company owner towards the Sardinians and Sardinia a few months ago». Grassini had it for everyone. The reason? From checks carried out by the Administrative Police Division of the capital's police headquarters, irregularities had emerged which had led to sanctions. And he hadn't digested them, so much so that he had railed against an alleged (non-existent) all-Sardinian system.
The discovery of the liquidation deed, denounced by a note from the trade unions, took place a few days ago through an internet search. The workers' representatives asked the company for an immediate confrontation. But "the meeting was short and completely unsuccessful", explain the secretaries of Filcams Cgil and Fisascat Cisl, Simone Congiu and Giuseppe Atzori, "because the owner of the company, Renato Grassini, did not provide sufficient answers to questions about the future of the company and the workers.
Unfortunately, Filcams Cgil and Fisascat Cisl point out, after a few months "it really seems that the intentions expressed in recent months are taking shape and it would be very serious, not only for these workers, but for the whole territory, if an entrepreneur decided to close a company causing the loss of dozens of jobs, not for economic reasons, but for a sort of retaliation against an entire population and an entire region».
The unions are once again asking for clarification from the company and are asking for urgent intervention in regional policy.
There would be a way out: there is another company belonging to the same group and based in the same building, Elliot Srl, the trade unionists argue, «which could accommodate all the staff. Together with other companies of the Geri HDP group, Elliot Srl would be the owner of some contracts that previously belonged to the Sardinia Risk Management. «A further demonstration», conclude Congiu and Atzori, «of the fact that the Grassini company would not find itself in a state of crisis due to lack of orders, or in any case that the possible situation in which it finds itself could be the result of a precise company choice and not a reflection of natural market trends".
