He was at work amid thick smoke and flames , while trying to put out a fire that broke out yesterday in the countryside between Palmas Arborea and Tiria .

A forestry worker fell ill , intoxicated by the substances released during the combustion .

The young man – he is 28 years old – was working with colleagues and Forestas employees.

Rescue services were immediate. Transported to the Brotzu in Cagliari under code red, his condition immediately appeared serious.

He was then transferred to the intensive care unit, his prognosis remains reserved .
