There will be exactly eleven municipalities in the province of Oristano that will go to the vote next spring.

Ballot boxes open in Ales, Boroneddu, Cabras, Milis, Modolo, Narbolia, Nughedu Santa Vittoria, Pompu, Simala, Soddì, Villaverde. Test that will involve a total of about 14,000 citizens . In this electoral round, there should also have been a vote in Riola Sardo , but here in July 2020 the mayor Mauro Salvatore Saba had resigned and the commissioner Remo Ortu was appointed. The early elections saw the affirmation of the mayor Lorenzo Pinna .

In Cabras, the most populous center where people will go to the polls, as has been the case for many years now, there will probably be several lists in the field. Mayor Andrea Abis has already announced his re-nomination and, apparently, like 5 years ago, one of his opponents will be Gianni Meli who is working to set up a vast aggregation that also includes former mayor Efisio Trincas and councilor Antonello Manca which in 2018 had presented its own list. On the other hand, we need to understand what the Democratic Party will do, which during its mandate withdrew its support from Mayor Abis. Same reasoning for the grouping of free citizens, who through the mouth of Ivo Zoccheddu have publicly declared their intention to create a unitary coalition. There is also talk of former mayor Pasquale Castangia taking the field.

In Narbolia, work is underway in the group that supports the mayor Gian Giuseppe Vargiu . "If a good part of the majority remains - the mayor points out - my re-nomination would be possible and feasible, regardless of the role". Will there be an opposing list this time? "There is a possibility - says Vargiu - and it would be wonderful, coming from someone who has been a minority for ten years".

Great uncertainty and no news leaks from Milis where the Municipality is currently governed by the regional commissioner Antonio Massidda , after the only list presented and led by the candidate for mayor Mondo Deiola had not reached the quorum in the municipal elections of June 2022. In Marmilla, in Ales, outgoing mayor Checco Mereu , head of the only list presented five years ago, has not lifted his reservations about his possible re-nomination. "The group is working to conclude this mandate in the best possible way - he says - I believe that by February we will have a clearer picture". This time, however, there should be at least one other grouping in the field that in a democratic way will contest the leadership of the civic building with the current majority.

Clearer things in Nughedu Santa Vittoria with the mayor-deputy Francesco Mura announcing his non-nomination. «After two mandates my experience ends – he says – and within the group it will emerge in a unified way who will be the candidate for the office of mayor. It is certain - underlines Mura - that I also hope for the creation of a second list as it has always been, for a civil democratic confrontation ».

In Guilcier two Municipalities to vote. Mayor Fabrizio Miscali is not running for mayor in Boroneddu and the orientation is to entrust the leadership of the list to a member of the group. This time, compared to 5 years ago, an opposing list should take the field. It's no secret that former mayor Mario Tratzi is working on it. In nearby Soddi , mayor Greta Pes , in her first term, only confirms that the group is preparing the list, but the position of mayor has not yet been discussed.

In Villaverde , on the contrary, the re-nomination of the mayor Sandro Marchi is certain, while in Simala and Pompu the decisions of the mayors Giorgio Scano and Moreno Atzeni are still awaited on their re-nomination. In Modolo , mayor Omar Hassan, while being able to run for a fourth term as required by law, still has to discuss it with the group to evaluate what to do.
