His son Gemiliano Montis died Monday afternoon on Statale 130: riding his bicycle he was hit by a tanker. The mother of the 39-year-old from Assemini is now asking "anyone who has seen the accident" to contact her: "For us - explains Fiorella Usai - it would be of great help".

He was a boy of few words - his mother remembers - but with a heart of gold. I chatted a lot and always listened to me ”.

Investigations are underway on the dramatic episode but, from what has been reconstructed so far, around 1pm Gemiliano Montis and the truck were stopped at the intersection of Via Piave, inside the city. Once the green light was switched on, the cyclist would have taken the Statale, perhaps to cross it and head to the opposite side of the road, towards the countryside. But suddenly he was hit by the heavy vehicle that instead would have turned right, heading towards Cagliari.

After the fatal crash , the driver of the heavy vehicle got out of the truck to ascertain the conditions of the 39-year-old, but there was nothing more to be done by now.
