Arzachena, packed church for the last farewell to Giovanni Fresi

«A father who always held his son's hand tight, until the end»: Don Mauro Moretti , parish priest of Arzachena, wanted to remember Giovanni Fresi in this way in his sermon.

It is the day of pain and mourning in the city center of Gallura for the last farewell to a father who paid with his life for his constant presence in the life of a difficult son who he was unable to save and from whom he was unable to save himself .

The parish priest - accompanied in the celebrations by several local priests - also referred to the community and the resources necessary in faith to protect oneself from evil.

In the front row Giovanni Fresu's father, Michele , elderly and visibly tired, his sister , his partner Anna Maria Cudoni who at the end went up to the altar for a moving memory .

THE TRAGEDY – The facts date back to the night of December 28 , when after an evening of madness between one club and another in Arzachena, characterized by abuse of alcohol and drugs, acids in particular, the young man hit him on the head with a bat the father was called to try to calm the outbursts of anger of his son who was wandering around the main street of the town in a state of confusion and armed with a stick.

Before carrying out the murder, Michele Fresi had attacked a 24-year-old girl with whom he was spending the evening, breaking her jaw and also injured two Carabinieri who arrived on site to arrest him.

The young man is now locked up in the Bancali prison in Sassari.

On the investigation front, inspections ordered by the Tempio Prosecutor's Office will be carried out tomorrow at Michele Fresi's home in via Ruzittu .
