He had disappeared from Italian territory for years and was considered untraceable, but his return to the country ended with him in handcuffs. Yesterday, the Guardia di Finanza of Sassari, on duty at the “Riviera del Corallo” airport in Alghero, arrested an Italian citizen from Germany, on whom there was a prison order issued in 2021 by the Tempio Prosecutor's Office.

The man was stopped during a routine check, which was intensified in view of the summer season and the increase in airport traffic .

From the first moments of identification, the traveler showed clear signs of nervousness, arousing the suspicions of the military in Alghero.

The investigation revealed that the man had numerous criminal records and was definitively convicted for a house burglary that occurred in Santa Teresa Gallura. The prison order dated back to four years ago, but until now the man had managed to evade execution of the sentence by living abroad.

His time on the run ended on Italian soil: after his arrest, the man was immediately taken to Bancali, where he will have to serve a sentence of 2 years and 9 months in prison .
