After the social appeal - and on the L'Unione Sarda website - he found his "angel". Arianna Fadda, the 25-year-old barmaid from Sestu who had a bad accident a week ago in Selargius - on the SS 554 - managed to trace the man without a name who, while other rescuers put out the fire of her Opel Corsa with a fire extinguisher in which she was stuck, he held her hand and encouraged her until help arrived. "He saved my life, I want to thank him," he wrote on his Facebook profile. Yesterday afternoon the long-awaited phone call from her rescuer, a 51-year-old bricklayer, while she is still hospitalized in the Brotzu Surgery ward: "I can't wait to meet him."

The crash and the fear

The incident dates back to 13 September. At 6.30 in the morning Arianna Fadda drove along 554, like every day, to go to work in Geremeas. After the traffic lights the unexpected: everyone slows down when they go red, she too, but in an attempt to change lanes she loses control of the car and goes off the road, without involving other vehicles. “My car overturned and I was crushed underneath as the car started to catch fire,” she says. "A nightmare, and even today I can't understand what happened."

Then the wait, the arrival of the firefighters and the 118, and the rush to the hospital with a red code. "I was operated on urgently in the afternoon," recalls the girl, "now I have eight screws in my back, three plates, fifteen stitches on my head, and a twenty percent chance that I will be able to walk again." In fact, the risk is that it can remain paralyzed from the pelvis downwards. "I have no sensitivity in my legs, I already know that a long period of rehabilitation awaits me, but I want to be positive because I am alive and this is already so much given the dynamics of the accident".

The appeal and the phone call

Two days ago the girl launched an appeal on social media, complete with photos that portray her in the hospital with her face still swollen: «I'm looking for the person who was with me after the accident until the rescuers arrived. I really want to know him and thank him, I'm alive thanks to him ». Of that man, however, only a vague memory: "He was grizzled, and was wearing a green T-shirt."

Yesterday afternoon the expected phone call, among the many received after his appeal. Because it was helped by many, including a girl - Paola - and some motorists who operated the fire extinguisher to put out the flames and avert the worst. But he - his "angel" - remained until the end. And finally he has a name and a surname: Luciano Casula, a 51-year-old bricklayer, who at the time of the accident was also traveling the 554 - together with his colleague Carlo - to go to work.

The rescuer

"I did what I could, I'm not a hero," he says after talking to the girl on the phone. "My daughter sent me a message with the girl's appeal and there I immediately knew she was looking for me." For now, a moving chat from a distance, but with the promise to meet as soon as Arianna Fadda gets better. «I still remember those moments», says Casula, «she asked for help because while she was trapped under the car she couldn't breathe. I told her to stay calm and quiet, in the meantime someone put out the flames ». A coming and going of people, while the bricklayer was always next to the girl.
